Pregnancy and Birth Injury Claims

Perineal Tears

A large percentage of women suffer perineal tears (a tear of the skin between the vagina and anus). Most perineal tears are quite minor and should heal naturally with time. However, more serious tears can also extend to the vulva and anal muscles. These tears require surgical repair, take longer to heal and may have long-term effects such as incontinence, development of a rectovaginal fistula (hole in the wall of vagina and anus), pain and soreness, scarring and emotional distress.

If you have suffered from a perineal tear which you believe was caused or exacerbated by medical negligence, you may be entitled to make a claim for compensation.
